St Twrog’s Church is situated at the heart of the model estate village of Llandwrog between Llandwrog School and Ty’n Llan, a community-owned pub.

It was erected at the instruction of Lord Newborough in 1856-1860 and replaced an earlier mediaeval building.  It is a local landmark due to its tall spire, which used to be used as a navigation aid by pilots coming in to land at the nearby Caernarfon airport.

The present building is unusual in that it is set out like a university or college chapel – with the pews facing one another. It has some fine decoration and stained glass windows and is popular for weddings. Its bells can be heard for miles around.
