St Beuno's Church - Interior

St Beuno's Church, Clynnog Fawr LL54 5PE

The church at Clynnog Fawr was founded in the 7th century when the surrounding land was given to God and Beuno by Gwyddaint as a place of sanctuary in perpetuity.

It was here that Beuno established his ‘Clas’ – a community of prayer, learning and mission.

It is thought that there was once a scriptorium at Clynnog Fawr and that this was the location in which the Welsh cycle of legends known as the Mabinogion was first written down.

The church is open to visitors every day of the year and is a wonderful place to pause for prayer and for rest and refreshment on your journey.

Also in Clynnog Fawr are St Beuno's Well and Ty'r Pererinion - an 18th century vicarage which is now used as a church centre and place of retreat and hospitality for pilgrims.
