Another Kingdom

It’s a long way off but inside it 
There are quite different things going on: 
from ‘The Kingdom’ by R.S. Thomas

The project we call Teyrnas Arall / Another Kingdom is inspired by the poet's vision of the Kingdom of God as that place in which there is justice, hope and healing for all. It is also inspired by the glimpse of the amazing fungi kingdom which we had on the day someone spotted clavaria zollingari – the purple coral fungus – peeping up its head in the church garden in Penygroes. 

Having discovered that this little patch of grass is in fact a particularly fine example of wax-cap grassland which, when managed appropriately, also yields a beautiful array of wild flowers in the spring, we have developed a plan to create a micro nature reserve and – in the church building – an eco-arts space which will help us learn about conservation and respond with creativity and hope to the present environmental crisis.
