Pererin Wyf

The name of our third project means 'I am a pilgrim' and is inspired by the famous hymn of that name by William Williams, Pantycelyn.

Central to our vision in Beuno Sant Uwch Gwyrfai is the sacred duty of hospitality - in the giving and receiving of which all are blessed and changed.  We want to make the precious experience of pilgrimage accessible to all – regardless of background or circumstances.

In recent years many of us have become pilgrims again  – for a whole range of different reasons. Some of us simply want to have a break from the busyness of everyday life.  Some of us have recently experienced loss or bereavement.  Others are at a different kind of transition point in life - with an important decision to make, about to start out in a new job or coming up to retirement.
The vision of the Pererin wyf project is to develop a pilgrim chaplaincy with an offering of hospitality – ranging from simple and inexpensive overnight accommodation in our churches for those walking the pilgrim way, to a place of healing and retreat for those in need of an extended time away.

In terms of building works, this will involve installing basic toilet and catering facilities in three of our churches, carrying out urgent maintenance at the ancient church of St Beuno and ensuring that it is more accessible to visitors.

We plan to develop the hospitality of our church house Tŷ’r Pererinion and establish a network of soul friends, mentors and counsellors with a chaplaincy programme during the summer months.
